I posted this on anothr site but idn't get many responses so I'm going to repost this .

My friend recently bought a Mark III C2 72" mill. He is running an 088 with ripping chain. The vibration is horrible.
I usually work the throttle & he is at the other end pullling the saw through the cut. We have tried repositioning
the grap handle but still the vibrartion is so bad that in less thn a minute your hands will be tingling.

My question: Is there any way to reduce this vibration via rubber grommets or springs on the bolts of the frame?
Or is there something wrong in our technique?

The chain gets sharpened after 2-3 slabs

am about to use the same setup this weekend an will find out if the same thing happens, will be using a semi chisel full tooth.
My smaller bar did this when i adjusted the raker depth and did not file the back off round. Am no pro, could this be happening?

I run the 56" with an 880, my helper holds on to the mill frame itself vs the helper handle because of the same issue. I think it's because there is not much mass on the helper end to soak up vibration that causes the problem. Also the handle is rigid mounted to the bar so there isn't much in the way of anti vibe.

How old is the saw and have you checked the vibration mounts of the saw. They may just need replacing.

Using such a big bar on that mill with the power head hanging out in the breeze like that is going to compound any vibe problems.
With mills of 60" or larger you would be better off with a mill that allows the powerhead to bolt direct to the bar bolts.

This is how mine is attached. GB used to make such a mill but I don't think it is available any more.

You will also be better off with a remote throttle - I have posted many times about this but none of the photos are working so I will post them again.

I have added several extra handles to my mills - the handles are padded with soft rubber mountain bike grips

Look at the chain ,ck the ripper height . I touch it up after two or three slabs in pine any thing harder more often . Look at the stekie at the top of page for the chain help . Ripper to high will vibrate like the devil .

Also you can fill the handle with sand just pull off the grip an fill er up this helps but doesn't kill all vibes
