Well although they are not made specifically for tree work, you guys should check out pants by 5.11 They are lightweight, rip-stop, plenty of pockets, have great mobility and they are double thick in the seat and on the knees. I have three pants already and would not mind two more to finish out a set for each day of the week. It actually bugs me now when i am not wearing these pants climbing cause i think they work so well. To top it off they are cheaper than arbor wear pants. Any one else tried them?

No, but I climb in Jonsered chainsaw pants and they work great. Chainsaw proof, breath in the back, keep snow and moisture off, and no pockets catching stuff, $77 a pop. I am pretty much running them exclusively now.

i'll have to check those out. I usually just wear saw chaps over but actual chainsaw protective pants would be nice.

I wear chainsaw protective pants in the tree (if I am going to be running the saw a lot) - I have never tried chaps in the tree, but I am fairly certain that I would not like them. I have chaps that I wear on the ground if I didn't have the chainsaw pants on in the tree.

I checked out the 5.11 pants. Which 'model' do you like? Thanks!
