Does anyone have any info on an XL12 that was painted Emerald green from the factory? It's the same green that was used on some of the Wiz55's.

Hello, I have heard of the mysterious green XL-12, but have never seen one. They were before the blue ones. Want to sell it? Jonathan

I wish that I had one to sell you ..LOL..I have been searching high and low for years. The only thing I have come up with is a Blue XL12 with some green XL12 parts on it ie, upper handle mount , pullstarter and sprocket cover. I wonder how many of them were made:confused:

I think John Deere sold the XL12 under their label is that the green you are looking for? (or was it a remington?)

Homelite made some saw-based equipment for the Army back then, but that was olive drab and not geen.

Remington made a saw for the military also. It was olive drab I think it was a model 770 or something? There was a guy on here a while ago that had a few of them.

Have you seen the Army WW II Merc-Disston a fellow just sold on eBay? Brand new the original military crate with all the paperwork.

XL12

The XL12 I was talking about was an actual XL12 made by homelite and it was Emerald green, it was made from what I hear around 1963-64 and not to many were made before they turned blue.

Well I do see green on that upper handle support. I did see a green and red pullstarter cover for an XL-12 on ebay 2 weeks ago. The seller had it posted as "rare". I don't remember the price.

about 2 weeks ago i came across a almost all green super xl. the only thing was the recoil cover was blue. i paid 5 bucks for it and all it needs is a clutch. and no i am not going to sell it. i picked it up in a deal for a mess of homelites. a c-9, 2 c-5's, a 350 and that sxl all for 45 bucks.

My dad had one when I was a youngster; As I remember it had some red parts on it similar to the older vertical saws from the '50's. If I remember right, my uncle ended up with that saw, and may still have it around in a junk pile somewhere...I think he blew it up around 1980.

I'll have to ask him about it. Of course, when I do, this thread will be long gone so "nevermind"

My Grandpa used to have an old red Homelite, not sure of the model #'s. It was mostly red and had a large gas tank on top with two metal caps. One is for gas, other is for bar and chain oil, I guess. Had a 16" bar, and it ran great. I think he took it to a junk yard or somethin'. I have a few parts that were for it. I got a piston and the connecting rod with rusty rings on it, the recoil starter with no rope, handle, or spring. And the head cover, chain guard, tons of bolts, and a kill switch. By the way, the recoil starter was green, along with the part that holds the coil and points. I've got one word for all the stuff I got: ANTIQUE. Probably from the late 40's, early 50's.
