Okay what do you guys typically pay Brush draggers? starting pay - Top pay
I have a guy that works for me part time.
and was just curious. :blob2:

I've been doing my own ground work lately so whatever I have left after expenses is what I pay myself. When I need extra help I hire labor ready at $13.75 hr. 4 hr. minimum, the workers get $6.75. If I need talent I hire self employed/insured friends at whatever we agree on at the time, has been $200 day in the past. I'm too paranoid to hire help under the table.

climbers out hear dont make 8-9 per hr. Deffently without taxes.I guess thats pretty good for unde rthe table. But when you have to consider the price of lunch also it might get to around 10 -15 per hr. Its just strange 20 yrs. ago out hear any way , tree work was a trade. now who knows what you call it.

I pay most of mine $8-$10 /hr. No experienc other than they are firemen and know most knots or are supposed to. I'm finding out that once these guys get out of the academy they forget that rope stuff. I also have one guy that gets $100 per day, ground work, few knots, can run a saw, good hand

Just my thoughts

Pay Rates

I have been paid as much as $12 per hour. but worked for a s*b of a boss, and quit very suddenly one morning after one too many tirades. On the other hand I have received $10 per and got nothing extra, and also at another place $10 per, but got all the free firewood I wanted, drove the company truck home (about five miles max) because I had to pickup the climber from the bus stop, did local small jobs around my neighbourhood without billing for my time, and had use of the chipper one day for ten minutes when we were in the neighbourhood anyhow. I would take the last scenario again anyday!

Ground guys get around $10hr my 2 regular guys work on per day pay at $100. when we are busy that could be a 10-12 hr day, but it can also be 4-6hrs. Under 4 hrs I usually pay 10-15 per hr. My brother helped me with a removal last week and brought his Quad, we took out a 18" dbh Pecan down and outta there in 2.5 hrs I paid him $100 for 2.5 hrs work!!! He loved it, but his quad took 2 hrs off the job by helping to skid the logs 100yds to the wood pile. I paid myself $300.
I pay for productivity. I'd rather spend time with my wife and kids than some ugly smelly tree guys!

I guess that means I should quit thinking about becoming a model??? :p

I have two regular ground guys part time. One is a firefighter who I pay $15 because every time I call, he is available and I get a full day out of him.

The other is a college student. He gets $12 for the same reason.

In an earlier thread, the issue of a CDL came up. Both these guys have one. I really don't see how a company can hire guys without one. How do I get my F700 and the Bucket to the job? Anyway, that's worth a little more to me, too.

Commmercial Drivers License

Depends on the state or province I guess. The vehicles I have driven which included a Ford Super Duty 7.3 w/chipper just came in under the 26,000 lb (do not quote me here it is 12000 KG I believe)cutoff here, so I always have got by with a "G" permit. Most CDLs here are obtained beause it is the only one you can get an airbrake rating on.
