Saw someone here was going by the name "Gyppo Logger".

There was actually a book published with this name. (Great reading BTW!) It is out of print but available at some libraries or a few are for sale here...

I thought it was very readable. It was from a while back when they had logging camps, a camp cook, etc.

It’s been many years since I’ve read it, so don’t remember too many details. Although I think I recall something about the guys getting their checks, then going to town and wrecking havoc! (Imagine that…)

These days, the gyppo loggers I know drive to work every day, then come home every night. Stop off at local bar and have a few beers/play video poker/pool.

In Oregon, it rains, rains, rains… There’s one bar here where the floor will have mud all over the place by about 4:30 pm or so during the rainy season. (Brought in by the construction guys and the loggers.)

This same bar gives everyone a free beer every time the fire siren goes off (volunteer fire department) – been doing that ever since anyone can remember. So whenever the fire siren goes off, everyone yells; Yeaaaaa!
