Caveat Emptor: Let the Buyer Beware

and I firmly believe you get what ya pay for in most cases. This sounds like a hack organization through and through.
If the story is true, I suspect that the homeowner is going to have a huge time collecting a cent off these guys. Hopefully his homeowner's insurance policy will cover the damage and then they can chase after ol' Red until the cows come home.

What else would the homeowner say?

"of course I told them to cut the tree"
and his insurance company would deny claim.

Hell no

The homeowner wanted that tree cut for cheap $$$.

I will bet you the homeowner had more than one price!!!

Probably got what he paid for!!!

I'm going to send this to all my recent bids - what a great article for legit companies.

Hopefully alot of people in my area saw this so they can understand the importance of liability insurance.

Hacks

:jawdrop: So when the rope broke the first time why didn't these guys get out the wedges and tip it over or at least use wedges to keep the tree away from the house? Maybe, 1)They didn't have wedges 2)They don't know how to place/use wedges. The rope is not always enough and the wedges can be used as a backup for rope or vice-versa. If the rope broke once tying it back together doesn't make it stronger for a second try. Red and the boys sound like they're a bit inexperienced to be doing this kind of work.

To me the bad part isn't the tree dropping on the house. Accidents do happen and you fix them. It's the leaving and not stepping up and being a man and fixing the problem. Personal responsibility is such a thing of the past.

Here's a phone number for the Bast ards. Everbody call the pricks and tell em yer coming after 'em with a shotgun... or somethin'

Nice

HAHAHAHAHA :greenchainsaw: LOVE IT WHEN THE HOME OWNER PICKS THE LOWEST BID HEY. :greenchainsaw: :greenchainsaw:

So the owner told them to take the tree down, but at that point did not have the proof of insurance, not a good move on the customers part.

Classic story, wish there was a picture, printed the story and will hand it out to potential price shoppers who complain about the high price of tree removal.

Run away, run away. Sounds like they cut off a bit more than they could chew, oh well. As far as hiring qualified guys with insurance, yes, as far as not falling big trees full length beside houses or powerlines yes too. I have fell trees and and been there when others fell trees (and I do mean fell, no ropes, just wedges) beside houses and powerlines. It is a hell of a rush, all depending on the trees holding wood, skill and calculated risk. I fell a big Hemlock (120'+) for my old nieghbor the top 40' went right between his house and a fence. I told him I could do it but if something went wrong, too bad, he trusted me. Yeah, I know, I should have lowered it all down, got a rope in it, blah, blah, blah. Hey ya gotta have fun, we fell Doug. firs that were over 100' and about 20' away from a three phase for days on end, all comes down to what you are comfortable with. Knowing what will happen if you f.u. is part of the fun. Easy to armchair quarterback on anything.
