I was watching DIY tv yesterday, and they were showing installing a water heater recirculating pump in a house to avoid running lots of cold water waiting for the hot water.
It occured to me that I could do that with my OWB, I "THINK" I would want to circulate it through the boiler and water heater and through out the house.
I would not want to continuously circulate like on the DIY setup. Just every 30 minutes or so.

I have a Free Heat Machine stove. My stove sets about 10 feet above my heat coil in the basement. My pump is down there and also runs 24/7 in the winter. That way when the fan cuts on you have heat now. also it runs through my water heater first. No cold air starts. www.freeheatmachine.com

I've got the same machine, makes my hot water too, but I don't think thats what he meant. I beleive he meant circulate the water in the water lines going to the faucet, so its always hot AT the faucet. Sounds like a cool idea. Let us know if it works:rockn:

Sorry about the www. thing. But they show you how my set up works. as far as on demand hot water in your faucets. Mine is very short in the winter. Even if the house is warm I never run out of hot for washing,showers.(4 lady's in the house I need a alot of hot water). with pump running all the time that is how I get on demand hot water.

yeah, mines hooked up just like the website also. I also never run out of hot water, no matter how hard we try. Its always hot, however I still say thats not what the original post was getting at.
i beleive the original post wants to heat the hot water between the hot water tank, and the faucet. That I think is a cool idea, and I'd like to see it.:bang:

The only way to do that would to run hot water lines to each hot water outlet and then put a heat exchanger at each outlet.Or buy a on demand electric. or gas heater. But to running your stove hot water to each outlet would be costly and alot of work. But would be cool.:bang: :D

You could put in a recirculation pump from your water heater to your faucet that would take care of the problem.

My idea was to put a return line from the furtherest (is that a word?) hot water faucet back to the water heater and circulate the water through the outdoor boiler and the water heater at timed intervals.

The problem I have now, is that is is about 100' from the water heater to the Hardy. So by the time hot water from the boiler reaches the water heater the faucet has probably already been turned off. I want to keep those water heater elements from kicking on. They really make the meter spin.
It would also be nice to have hot water almost instantly.

with my free heat machine OWB I make all my hot water. My electric hot water heater is turned off at the breaker, its simply a storage tank at this point. I just use a plate exchanger hooked up to the inlet of the hot water heater. So every time I open a hot water faucet, hot water is dumped into the tank, so the hot water heater is unnecessary. I ran it for a few months with the hot water heater on, turned it off on a day that was 5 degrees for a high, its been off ever since. Its 20 below here today with the wind-chill. The dishwasher just ran, and i just took a 20 minute shower. THE HOT WATER HEATER IS OFF! I see no reason why you shouldn't be able to make all yours also if the system is properly hooked up. Admittedly, hot water right at the faucet would be cool, but you should be able to make all your hot water without the electricity.:biggrinbounce2:
