Wondering what's a good harness to start with on a budget? Also some other equipment I could possibly purchase to learn

Welcome to the site. Buy right and buy once. Are you a production climber? Are you going to be spending a lot of time in this saddle? Either way I would get something with a rope bridge and not a 4 dee harness. Whats your budget look like?

It's mostly just going to be for weekend side jobs and I'm trying to stay around 200 maybe a little more

check out treestuff.com they have a good selection. check out the Weaver Cougar or the Buckingham Buckcat. Both should be around 200 to 250. Those 4 dee saddles just restrict your range of motion. Do u have a local store you can visit and test a couple out?

Same question I ask every person who is asking "101" questions: Do you know about trees? A lot of guys want to learn to climb, but they have very little understanding about caring for trees. Proper pruning cuts. What, where, when, how to prune. Or, if you are focusing on removals, do you understand how they behave? All far more important than which harness to buy.

If you do have that down...The only one under $300 I think I see that I think I might use is a Weaver Cougar. I have a TreeMotion and love it, but that more than doubles your budget...

And then they find out they need a saddle and not a harness,,
