Is there anyone who has used a Logosol to build a cabin? I am in the exploration/planning stage and am considering using a logosol to build a square log or post and beam cabin. Any thoughts or experiences are welcomed:msp_tongue:

Thanks

It has been done

Two most important things, are you single, unemployed and have alot of time on your hands, or are you married, semi retired and the wife wants you out of the house, and you enjoy time consuming projects?

Of course it can be done, hell my ancestors did it with axes in the matter of months, trying to settle in before the snow fell.

Anything and everything can be done, just be realistic, and follow through with whatever you do.

In progress.... I spent countless of hours on the internet trying to find the 'right' way to turn trees into usable building material, more trying to decide on a building style. Long story short I settled in on the Logosol to build timber frame. The comments from Hamish hit close to the mark, it's not fast but for me it's the satisfaction of building and also stress relief. BTW, I did consider hand hewing. I am starting with a shed for the back yard to see how it goes.

Love to hear what you decide to do. I have also been experimenting with ways to share what I have come up (yet another time sink), feel free to have a look.... DIY Timber Frame

If you were to get a small sawmill used or new it would be less wear and tear on you and your CS.
There are a few inexpensive ones out there HFT has one with good reviews there is another small one that i don't know the name of?
There are alot of people here that have cooked their saws milling go to (chainsaw) on this site.
You can get it done faster, less kerf and less lifting.
You can always resell a sawmill easily!(because you wan't a bigger one).
And make $ selling milled wood.
Just my 2 cents worth.
Mark
p.s. I have always been a fan of the right tool for the job!
