Have any of you repaired your own buckets with the fiberglass repair kits you can get at the auto parts stores?

If so how do they work and does it feel sturdy or not?

Thanks for any replies.

I am guessing it depends what you are trying to repair and the type work you do. If you plan on going near any wires then leave it the pro to make sure the unit stays di-electrically secure. I have re- fiberglassed steps onto the basket and some control shield covers, but anything structural I leave to the manufacturer.

thats why we are trying to find out before we do it.

So far we have not had much luck on finding a replacement bucket for our versalift.

What kind of Versalift do you have? Seems odd that you cannot find one.

We repair baskets all the time. Both structural and cosmetic. If this is a structural repair I would not recommend you attempting this yourself. There are many special techniques involved with repairing fiberglass components on aerial devices.

Both the co that I PM'd you and maybe the one listed above offer repair services. You ship them your bucket and they fix it and ship back.

If you list your model I may have a used or refurbished one.

There is a company in ohio that sells aftermarket buckets for many brands. I cant remember the name . I know it is in the Tree Care Industry magazine.

I have repaired a couple of baskets, all fiberglass and structual repairs for a friend who has a tree service. Never had any problems till his guys start chewing on them with saws. They sure do tear them up.

ours is still structurally sound. Just has some slight cracks in it that we would like to repair. I am going to see what I can do tomorrow. If I don't like it we will either send it off or get a new one.
