I was grinding this weekend with my 8018 and the wheel stopped turning and I had some noise in the bell housing. I took it apart and the spring dampners had come out of the center of the clutch plate so the center portion that slips on the splines of the output shaft spun freely. I replace the clutch in this grinder a couple of years ago. while the dampner springs weren't all out at that time a couple were. I went to a local power drive component shop and they are going ot make me a clutch plate that is solid with no dampners. Hopefully this will be the last clutch I put in this thing. Will post pics when I get it.

It looks like they are trying to reinvent the wheel with some of the new clutch set ups. It's as though they know some have no concept of how a clutch gradually picks up a load. They're probably right for a lot of people. I had to replace the clutch in my bucket last year and it had a 2pc flywheel. What a pc of carp. Btw,Ford gets 800 plus bucks for a new one and the old ones can't be resurfaced. I changed it out with a one pc. No problems.
