Does anyone heat water for their house in summer with an outdoor wood boiler? How much wood do you go through a month when just heating your water?

Thanks

I dont run my boiler in the summer (but may next year as it has been costing me close to $100 to heat my water) but in the early fall and late spring when I mostly heat domestic water I think a smal armload a day is about what I burn when there is no call for heat in the house or shop. Mind you that I am heating water for 5, 3 teens and a clean feak wife or LOTS.

I heat my water all summer with my heatmore boiler. I use tons of hot water with my clean freak wife any two small kids. She does a ton of laundry and runs the dishwasher alot. I burn all my paper products and probably about one big wheelbarrel load every three weeks. It is saving me about $75 a month to heat the water this way.

What he said, filled mine up not all the way full, last thursday with some hard maple (fresh cut) that i had to chunk out with the chainsaw ( log splitter wouldnt split it) and i just put some in there yesterday she was about out.

:agree2: I'm using mine as well and it works out great. I set the wood boiler temp down to 150 as your domestic hot water at max should be no higher than 140. uses very little wood. a nice hot shower feels much better when you don't hear the oil burner kick in.:hmm3grin2orange:
