dont know if anyone can help me out, im in the market for a hedge trimmer and am in two minds on which way to go. In m opinion its between the stihl commercial trimmer or the honda four stroke trimmer. ive got plenty of honda tools and stihl but am unsure of which way to go. Any suggestions or feedback? anything else on the market maybe i may have missed?

I run echo trimmers too:rock: they seem to last a year or two longer than the stihls. Might have to try a honda, they make some good
engines, but its more the gears and the bearings in the trimmer heads that seem to fail and are a bear to fix.

I have a Shindawa, just bought it, love it! 500 smackers tho, don't like the others, how they "feel"

I checked out the shindawa web site, are they long enough for the big shrubs and hedges??
The echo shaft trimmers seem quite a bite longer, and more reach equals more trimming a guy can do.

We use 3 Stihl trimmers, a HS 45, HS 80, HL 75 and a Partner 25-12. Don´t know the Shindaiwa or Echo, casue both brands are not common in county.

I always would go with the Stihl brand, ok...hs to do with Dealers support, too. But we never had any probs with them. Exception was a sieve which was mounted in the exhaust in the first HS 75 we own. When it was removed the saw lasted 10 years by doing 7 miles of trimming/year.

The 25-12 I only have from time to time, twice a year. But it always starts on the 3rd pull.

The HS 80 is the best trimmer I knew of for trimmimg large beech hedges. For conifers, wher you have to be very sensitive by trimming them, best to ust the HS 45 and the HL 75, which is a really metermaker.

In US they should be much cheaper then here in Germany.
