Help: Can't get Husky 288xp to idle, replaced carb, replaced P/C, crankcase holds 7 psi vac and pressure, both carbs hold 7 psi vac and pressure. Linkage is not bent, all new top gaskets. new crank seal on clutch side, I'm stumped.
Thanks Tom

It is a new aftermarket carb, have also tried it with a running carb from another saw all three same, no idle.
Ur impulse hole from crankcase not blocked at all check that , fuel line and filter check ?

Please correct if I'm wrong but the fuel pump side of the carb would not work if the impulse line were blocked. is that correct?
I have not checked the fuel line or filter the PO did replace both but I thought that an issue there would keep it from running at high speed not lower speeds. If I am wrong, please let me know.

The OEM Tillotson carbs are difficult to find. Took me quite a while to locate one for my 268XPS, expensive as well.

The off-shore replacement carbs for those saws aren't worth two squirts of duck poop, so NEVER buy one as an attempt to evaluate a carburetor issue. The only good sound any of those carbs make is when you "tink" them off the trash can in the office!......IMHO.......Cliff

So you have said that you replaced the carb with a known working carb from the same type of saw?? That should rule out a carb issue. What's the compression since you replaced the P/C? Also you should be able to see oil movement if a drop is place in the impulse hole or tube. I had a Husky Cut Off saw that had weak compression and would flood at idle and hard to tune. Just replaced rings and saw worked perfectly and good stable tuning. What does the sparkplug look like, wet with gas?

That is correct. Put oil in carb end of pulse line. Just a squirt. You should see it move in and out when turning over crank. When having problems like this replace all air and fuel lines, fuel filter etc to rule them out. Crankcase pressure: get 10. Even if you have to dunk it in a bucket of water to find leak.
