It's looking like my hydraulic pump may be going south on me on my little bucket truck. I'm going to have a guy check it for volume and pressure tomorrow. He said it shouldn't be that hard or long to do. The question I have is pricing on the new one ,if needed.
This is a small 38 ft articulating boom on a 94f350
Pump is a pretty small thing bolted straight to the pto. Probably about 7or8 in long and 4x4 wide. Guy gave me a rough guess of 8-900 bucks.
Does this sound right?
I tried looking it up but have no idea what I'm looking for.
Any help appreciated.

I've got an altec bucket 60 ft. I called about my hydraulic pump and it was like $1050. That's brand new from the factory. So I would think you probably somewhere in that range that you said. A pto cost like $450 new so hydraulic pump would probably be more.

Thank you for the reply. The guy was too busy to get the truck in today,so since it will be next week anyway I think I'm going to call ETI and get a quote from them.

Removed the pump and took it to the local hydro shop, was identified as an EATON VICKERS or vice versa, but anyway, the new one should be here in 4 days.450 plus the governor . I'm ecstatic . First guy was telling me twice e that price .

Well,,,, got the new pump late yesterday afternoon and promptly installed it this morning. Engage PTO ,let out clutch and boom,NOTHING,not even the whining noise or hummer or anything, WTF ? Double checked that all was hooked up correctly, shaft and keyway in PTO right, valves open ,still nada. Called my hydro man and he was as puzzled as I was. Took it he pump back to him ,flopped in on his counter. He put his thumb over the pressure side fitting, turned the shaft less than a half turn and SPLASH, out comes hydro fluid. Again,WTF? Checked PTO output shaft one more time to make sure that it was indeed turning with solid force when engaged. Yep,all good. As a last resort he asked us to see what direction the PTO turned and sure enough it wasn't the direction that made the pump squirt fluid out on his counter. It turns out that they are directional. Whoda thunked? He called the founder of the co,his cramps, I think, and he explained that the direction could be reversed by flipping the center section of the pump. What a relief. Working like a champ now.
