Hello everyone i am new to this forum :msp_thumbup: and i am looking to replace my blown kohler 25HP.

This is the thing i really don't even know where to start.

Engine vanguard 35hp Model # that may be a better fit ?!?
Different compliant pulleys?
clutch change?

I know i have to build a new motor mount plate

If anyone can help me get started that would be awesome.

Thanks for the help..

Look further down the page for " List of upgrades for the SC252" 11 pages of just about anything you can do to upgrade a SC252.

Order the Briggs Stratton model number and type number refrenced and it will give you everything you need on the engine. And yes your standard clutch and key way will work just fine.

you think i should change pully size for the grinder wheel for more rpm as the hp has inceased 40%

Isn't that stock clutch only running two belts? Will they transmit the added power and torque?? I remember my Rayco having trouble in this area with the lower horsepower.

I ran the stock belts from clutch to jackshaft without any problems, though you do have to keep them adjusted more frequently than the 25hp Kohler. Recently switched to a double banded belt, been about six months, seems like it does better, less frequent tightening of belt. But factory worked fine. This belt does not require any changes to pulleys.

I'm still running factory belt from jackshaft to cutter wheel, no issues yet. Been 1.5 years now, replaced once.

Just had an oil leak in the pto cover side repaired under warranty. Had them adjust valves at same time. They were a couple thousandths out with about 775 hours from new. I'm running Mobil 1, tech said engine looks like new inside when he had the case off.

Running like a champ.

I'm doing this swap on a 222.
I'm sure I can fabricate a mount to get it bolted down. I have not seen a template yet on how to do so. Anyone have a link to that? I would like to see it.
Also is the wiring as simple as ground cable to motor mount bolt and positive to starter and a what wire would I connect my positive clutch wire to? Anything else to get it going?
Thanks
