I have been given a high priority task to rent a pipe unloader-anyone here ever used a CAT 930H for logs? Or for that matter something similar? Any info appreciated.

I own a Volvo L60F Long boom that I've used for logs but just with a set of forks. I do not own a log loader grapple. The L60F is a similar sized machine to the 930H. The horse power are very similar but the 930 is approx 2000 lbs heavier. I used a Log loader on a older Volvo L70. It worked quite well. Not sure if your asking if the machine is big enough to handle logs or pipes. It would depend on the weight of the pipes. The machine would be heavy enough for logs.

Thanks, this is what I have Hertz looking for me right now-pretty versatile as I will be able to get rid of a small Bobcat with scoop and a Sellick S80 forklift that I am renting right now, as this machine does it all with the appropriate accessories.

What I ended up with......good piece of kit for our use

Hertz got me a John Deere quicker. Unloading pipe this morning in my yard; we have 400 truckloads en route (yes four hundred!!) Pretend it's a big log!!! Pipes are 8,300 lbs ea.

Would work great on stumps too....

Loading spent 9000 lb slurry pump impeller shells to be returned to Georgia Iron Works for melting down as they are valuble high chrome content alloy. They have lost about 2,000 lbs through the abraison of the sand since new.

The snow missed us by just miles. In fact the last 3 storms all missed us by short distances. I was kinda of hoping for a couple of hits as we do a lot of snow clearing. You guys did get a lot of snow. Funny this year South Dakota and North Dakota and Minnesota have been getting hammered with snow in April and you guys in Alberta and Saskatchewan have seen a fair amount as well but in the Winnipeg area almost none but all around has seen at least 20cm and some areas a lot more. Oh well we've still had dumps in May but I think we'll have to wait until November now.
