Help reusing a old piston.

I am working on a husqvarna 140S. Pistons are NLA for this saw. The cylinder ended up being fine. I need to be able to reuse the piston. There is no other piston I can use.

No replacement parts? That means it's likely a hopeless case. I have an old piston that will likely no longer be used very much anymore either and it is not for sale, but I need to post that on an off-topic thread. Forum (and Brandon), please forgive me for saying it here.

Scotch brite pads are your friend here Brandon. And a guitar pick with 400+ grit for the ring groove.

You can modify a 41/141 piston IIRC. I did it 5-7 years ago, I think all I needed to do was shave the pin bosses back a bit, as the crank small end is wider on the 140/240.

I'm pretty sure it was a 41/141 I used. If not, it was some other homeowner-type husky.

Without a hesitation I would run that. How's the ring end gap? Surely you could source a new ring right?

As a pre lube I use the moly paste. With some two stroke oil. I burnish the moly into the cylinder walls and piston. Add some oil and assemble.
