Friend of mine handed me his Poulan to look at the oiler today.
I can't find any model name on it, just: 2001 46cc, 20 inch bar
He just cuts a little brush around his new (to him) home and doesn't need anything more really.
So, what kind of oiler does this thing have? pump, diaphram, any help appreciated, I'm a stihl guy. I figure its prob clogged, but wanted a heads up if I could get it.
Thanks -Ralph

Damm Scott, 3 minutes? Thats service! Thank you sir, that should help put all the little pieces back where they should be :D

Best way to fix it would be.
#1 Pick it up by the Top handle
#2 Carry it to the nearest Trash can
#3 Drop it in!
#4 If the handle falls off while carrying use a shovel! :p

I know, but then he'd be borrowing one of my stihls and hitting fence with it :(

I have come to own (did not buy) two of these late model green colored saws, a 23cc and a 34cc"Pro" model. I have had to set a limit, and the number is three, on the times I will change out an oil pump before scrapping out one of these. The 23cc is on the last pump, the 34cc has just consumed the second pump with about 4 trigger hours use since replacement. Carefully following the set up directions does not help much. The pumps are just junk. This is probably the single worst shortcoming of these saws, IMHO.

Maybe you need a Oil can in a speed holster. :blob2:

Just run the Stihls, junk the Poulans unless they're an S25DA, or something like that.

one of the problems is that the oil pump drive is all plastic. Burnt the oil pump out of my 220 after getting some grass wrapped around behind the drive sprocket. Plus it is an automatic oiler, does not give you the option of giving it a little squirt every now and then.

I've found that a lawn mower works best for cutting grass. I've seen a pair of 295's cut and cut with no oiler trouble. I will admit a 220 or anything else with a manhole cover for a gas cap that's made by poulan ain't much good. A 3000,335 or one of it's relation I'll run up against anybodies saw of similar size. I had an older gentleman give me a nice 031 Stihl, should have been a good one. Toyed with it for Lord knows how long, sold it and am glad to be rid of it. Really who thaught it would be a good idea to blow sawdust out right next to the air filter. Still have my 3000 Poulan, do have a 041 FB Stihl too. Everybody makes a lousy model once in awhile; cept Frontier, what a trouper........

pull- on oiler

i had one of these saws, the bar oiling system is terrible. even after you get it fixed the owners manual clearly states to drain the bar oil tank, why, because it all runs out onto your bech after you put it away. so why the gears it seems to flow oil just fine even when it isnt running.
as for the used to have, i backed over it in my truck. wife came running outside to tell me, before she got to me i pulled forward and then backed up again. used a pry bar to pull it out of the mud and carried it mangled carcass to the trash can and drove directly to my stihl dealer.
seems i get very frustrated when things dont work properly. think id be used to it after being a mechainc for over 15 years, but, ya know........

I was given a Poulan Micro 25 Delux that has the same problem. No oil to the bar and chain but plenty on the floor when I put it away.
I took it as far apart as I can without splitting the case and can"t find where the oil pump is. (If it has one at all) It appears as if the oil tank is pressurized
Somehow. Is this correct? Or is there somthing that I am missing?
I can look inside the tank and crankcase and can't see a pump or gear drive.
Anyone? :Eye:

The oiler on a Micro 25 is a little thing just to the front of the saw, it is held in place by 2 screws, right below the bar mounting point. I have the S25DA, and the micro25, the S25 has the oiler right behind the flywheel where its installed into the oil tank.
