Hello everyone my name is Travis Deyarmin I'm a new member to the forum. I've been reading on here for months but i finally decided to post. I'm a young guy only 19. But, I have worked for a tree service for over a year now so far I have my class A cdl and i just started climbing the past few months. I have limited bucket experience too. Any advice you guys could give me to help me progress would be great. I would like to get Isa certified and I would also like to obtain some schooling please feel free to let me know how to get myself to the next step. Thank you all I appreciate any replies!

Welcome aboard!!! You've taken the first step by signing up and asking questions. The company you work for, are they "arborists", or just another tree service? Working with a good company is a good place to start. Also, if you have any specific questions, the search function is a good resource. Read the archives too, lots of good info there.

How about pruning without spikes? When I worked for Asplundh, I made sure to learn how to climb without them, even when they wanted me to wear them. It's made a big difference in my climbing. I've only been climbing for two years, but I could out climb some of the older guys when they didn't have spikes on cause that's all they knew. Don't become one of those guys. Learn how to move around the tree without them.

contact the penn-del chapter of isa; they will help you progress as an arborist.
