Oh man. Talk about a waste. I bought this property and knew it had a lot of cleanup on it. I saw some metal sticking out of the blackberries and finally went back to that area. Yesterday I lopped up the blackberry vines and pulled off branches. I discovered, still wrapped up in the Tubafor Mill wrapper, a forklift load of cedar siding. But, it had been there so long that the bugs had chomped it up. I'm still pulling it out. Today I returned with high hopes for another bundle, which had been covered up with corrugated aluminum. Dang! It is a huge colony of sleeping carpenter ants. I was going to use it for kindling, but after seeing all the ants think I need to build a fire and burn it. The previous owners were employees at a cedar mill.
The Used Dog found a bundle of shakes and cut his nose on it a few years ago. Then I discovered more buried nearby. He also found some metal roofing and mobile home siding that was under about 6 inches of duff.
I also stepped on a window that was hidden and broke it. So much for archaeology, today.
Oh, and I can't drive back there, so everything must be carried out. The Drainfield and alder/cedar plantation are in the way.
