howdy folks, I was looking for some hickory. i live in california in the desert area and so its virtually impossible for me to come accross wood. i make bows so I use this stuff. I was wondering if any of you know or can get some hickory. Heres specifically what I need. eith logs that are 5-7 inches in diameter straight free of knots so I can split em. Or already split staves. must be between 60-72 inches long, preferably 72. Heres a picture. It can also be osage orange, american elm, or ash.

I've got seasoned ash, cherry, and black locust staves and I have access fresh to hickory and elm, but Cali is a ways off. If you're interested in paying the shipping let me know.

shipping is not a problem, we can put it in a crate and send it freight. I can find out the price. thanks for the reply.

We have lots of osage orange, bodart, hickory but like mentioned above, it would have to be shipped. Does it have to be seasoned?? I would think green would be preferable.

two chains seasoned is the stuff you need to make bows. a high moisture content in the wood is useless, especially when you talk about osage. I usually let it dry about 1 year minimum. Since i liv in So cal I can reduce the wood to dimensions and it will dry a little faster, but I have to be careful because quick dryng will make the wood crack, especially osage and mulberry, theyll crack right through. ive been thinking of kiln drying the staves since I know kiln dried lumber works. Ill post pictures tomorrow.
