I need to tune a friends Husky 61 made in 1983. What are the high and low RPM settings for this saw, he no longer has the book. Are they the same as a 55?

Thanks,

TJACK

I don't KNOW but virtually everyone's saws use Tillotson or Walbro carbs (okay maybe there are Zama carbs on a decent saw or 2). 1 -1.25 turns out from fully closed is at least a decent starting point for every saw I have messed with. The only time this hasn't worked as a starting point to tweak into true "correct" adjustment by ear has been when there was an air leak.

What Stumper said will get you started. Then get the low speed setting adjusted so the saw doesnt bog anymore, and then do the high speed to where is slightly "burbles" and doesnt bog down in the cut.

The best description on proper adjustment can be found at www.madsens1.com

Good info so far, but I'd read the question as "What is the numeric value for the high and low (idle?) RPM when setting with a tachometer".

Thanks for the replys. Yes, I have a tach and was looking for the numeric RPM, as I thought these older saws were set lower than the current Huskys.
