Anyone using 10mm Armor-Prus?

I picked up some Blue Craze and it doesn't really like Ocean Poly so much. I prefer a 10mm cord but if you know of an 8mm that performs well with the 24 strand All-Gear ropes please share.

Thanks guys!

Whats with the Blue Craze and the Ocean Poly combo?
I have a Hi Vee from New England, and it does not work that well with Ocean poly either. The Ocean Poly grabs like a SOB and is hard to brake the VT...

You may want to double check your VT that you're tying it correctly. Mine would slip a lot when I used only three top wraps. The fourth wrap secures the hold. The 10mm Armor Prus worked well for me. I like the 30". I've also had success with the Tenex and the Beeline. The problem I had with all of them is that after a short period, they would hold form and stick when I wanted to advance. Consider the Petzl Zigzag, it's awesome. You'll love it. Use 11.5 or 11.7mm rope with it.

I usually tie a 3x3 vt but got a shorter beeline this time so switch over to the xt and it is awesome. If your vt slips give it a try.

I tried the XT the other day and like the extra couple overlayed wraps , and it shortened up so it didn't get near the rope wrench . I like the 9mm

pretty smooth with 5 wraps but I'm 276lbs so I don't have much choice

Thanks guys, I'll give it a try. Personally I've never been a big VT fan, the Michocan has always been my go to.

I guess its a personal choice. I have tried Schwabisch, Distal and Michoacán and climbed a lot with them. But I in the end I realized that the VT was the best for me. Tends really easy and grabs instantly. But then again, with the wrong rope and hitch cord combo, or maybe incorrectly tied, I suppose the VT could slip. Ocean poly and Hi-Vee does not seems to be a good combo. Tried both 8 & 10mm hith cord, just doesn´t work for me. :(

Ya anybody can say what hitch they run but the problem is with all the different ropes, types of hitch chords, cord length and chord diameter the possibilities are almost endless lol you really just need to try it for yourself. I climb on 16 strand Arbormaster with 10mm beeline. Always have and probably always will. I switch between 30" and 32" and I think I even had a 34" at one point. Those couple inches will cause the same hitch to go from working great to not at all. I think I'm on 30" at the moment and it refuses to grab on it's own in a 3 over vt. I tie a 4 over and it bites too much. Where as with the longer chords I could get another bottom braid out of it making the 3 over work awesome. Smooth feed and controlled descents. Now with the 30" I'm tying an xt with I like also.

Give HRC a try it's great also try tying a Knut hitch it super sweet

I was a big fan of the 8mm armor-prus on my Yale Imory and on crappy old arbplex. I recently got some ocean polly I have been playing with and I'm not the biggest fan either. I find it a tad unpredictable as to whether its going to grab instantly or not. Also ocean seemed to glaze faster than the Armor Pruss. I have been using 8mm R.I.T. with my hitchhiker lately and really liking it. I will have to cut a piece off and give it a go with a VT.
