Who is all using one. How do you like it.
Ive been climbing on one for 3 months. IMO its the bees knees, i use a small pice of 4mm line tied to the steel beiner to self advance the unit as i rope walk.
Anyone come up with anothe option to the steel beiner. I would love to get rid of some pesky weight.

I want to put out there, that i dont always use the HH. If i know ill be climbing a hole set Dbrt i will always fall back on my hitch climber with a vt. Yes you can climb Dbrt on a hitchhiker but the set up isn't as clean as the Hc.

love my HH. Not so fond of the RW, plus, the former works both SRT and DdRT, and The RW is solely SRT.

A steel biner must be used or the rope will saw through a aluminum one.

Smokey-the-pilot has experimented with a stainless steel shackle in lieu of the biner, and posted about such on another tree discussion board. He might chime in if he sees this thread.

Yeah i deff.. wouldn't use aluminum. I just think there is a light super hard metal out ther someone could make biners out of.
I think i seen the discussion of the use of a shackl on tree buzz.

Titanium, if you can find it and want to spend that kind of $$. I think Unicorn Stainless has titanium shackles.

Yes, I did some mods on the HH and found it very useful.
IMO it makes the HH so much more manageable and easy to use a pulley to set up for 3:1 and 6:1 mechanical advantage.
I think the HH is a fantastic and brilliant tool. It is very compact and the fact that you still use a hitch cord makes many very happy.

Anyway, I have several videos about it. One about the stopper knot as well.

Links to the videos are in in my signature.

It is also of an issue about the sides of the slot being made from very hard steel and it will tear up the aluminum biner, once the biner gets rough it can snag and not run smooth in the slot to provide the necessary friction.

just recently got a company rope wrench although I was personally leaning towards a hitch hiker. Is it that much better or worse? looks pretty compact which could be nice.
