Hole in tree

Customer asked about filling in a large whole in a healthy tree. Sugar maple is doing well, not rotten or anything, but large whole where a branch fell off years ago. He wants to cover it up with something or fill it in to protect it, I mentioned hyd cement. Any ideas?

fill it with expanding foam, cover it with bondo, to seal it, and drill a hole in the bottom to ensure water has a place to drain out.
