Anyone have any idea what a 1050 in good condition is worth ??

Id say its a 7.5 or 8 out of 10 overall condition.

I believe it is a 1981 model

Here's one that on ebay right now for 150.00 bid on it and three days to go!

Saw prices on eBay are out of control lately:dizzy: . I cannot believe what people are paying for machines they are 'gambling' on. Big money, IMO, on parts saws, working saws, etc. Makes me want to buy new and sell all my stuff for over twice what I paid

$200-$300 in premium almost new virgin condition with a new bar and chain. $50 at a flea market in hogged out typical condition. Anymore than $300 and you better really really really want it or be a desperate collector with money to burn. Good saw for what it is but not really all that impressive. Reputation seems to be exaggerated. They are not rare or hard to find.

Well, Im working on a deal to get one in very good shape for $75

How do they run, or should I say, what are they capable of.

Pros, cons etc...

They run a 20-28" sprocket bar with 3/8 chain very nicely. They are not the monster saw that some people feel they are but are a very good 100cc range saw. For $75 take a chance a see what you think. I like mine but it is not the first old Homelite I would reach for.

Watch the carb and check out the case throughly for cracks. Look very carefully around the bucking spike mount. Pull it over and listen for bearing noise. It also should not free wheel when cranking it to start.

Good saw for a collection or loudly cutting firewood.

As for rarity I guess there are more in Ohio. I will not argue the rep as that is a opinion but for $75 you can send me as many as you can get. Please let me know.

Bill, what do you do with all the saws? To you buy to resell or are you a nutty got to have them all collector? I am a nutty got to have them all collector. Every now and again I thin out the herd but usually only the small saws.

What would you pay for a mint 1050? No I am not trying to sell one as they are big and I like big. I am curious what people pay in different areas and why. Are you a EBay buyer and/or seller?

If I come across another one I will let you know but I will just let you communicate directly with the seller if they are interested. Not all 1050s around here go cheap, I have seen one go for $500.00 at a farm auction. They did not even start it. I have also seen one go for $20.00 that they did start.

Bill not trying to start a fight. Just curious as you seem to pop in a lot to offer to buy or sell a saw. If you like the saw tell the guy why. What is your opinion? You seem to have lots of goodies and I would like to hear your input about them more often. Robert

Bill, to respond about availability of Homelites. There were a couple of very successful Homelite dealers in the area. They often talk about the good old days of selling Homelites. The C-series and 1000s were very popular with loggers and some are still in use. There are no parts available locally anymore and many times the saws are traded in and/or put out at auction. I probably see one big Homelite every month, usually between $50-300.00.
They are usually all but used up or barely used looking.

Robert,

I am a avid collector of saws with a special interst in Homelite. I collest them for myself. I can post pics of my groupings of multiples of models. If you look back through posts you will find some. I rarely sell Homelite saws.

As for your next question "Just curious as you seem to pop in a lot to offer to buy or sell a saw." Well you have to offer to buy saws to collect them:)

Man after my own heart!

Bill, good to hear that you are an avid collector with a strong interest in Homelites (fanatic). I understand the need to ask in order to buy:D , I was curious as to why you did not post an opinion on the1050. I have read a few(you have a lot) of your old posts and enjoyed the reading. Good luck. Robert
