Some of my crew is interested in doing a bit of milling but I'm not willing to let them beat up the company saws. However we do have a couple of older running 925s with bars that I would be willing to let them use. I understand the issues these saws have when not properly maintained with respect to boiling the gas but if we were to keep them clean does anyone have an opinion? I know they are slow but thought they would have enough power to get the job done. Most of what we're cutting is oak, maple and ash and its more for fun than anything else.

Thanks

Jon

i say run it..never gonna know til you try..they have plenty of torque and really thats what you need in big hardwood..whatcha got to lose

Adjust the carb richer ,and drop the rippers tell she starts to make chips without having to push to hard . O take pictures to,we like pictures . John T

Do they run hot or do they tend to overheat due to lack of cleaning? I'm asking because I'd heard about the boiling gas issue but that seems to be due to a combination of factors stemming from lack of maintenance. (specifically failure to clean out the air gap and plugged vent for the fuel tank)

I'm new to old saws but these things just look bombproof from my general mechanical background.

Thanks all for the input:clap:
