Thinking about rebuilding a Homelite C-51, got it for free and not sure what if anything is wrong with it. Tore it down to take a look and see the piston is a bit dark on the skirt, lots of hard carbon on top.
This would be my first chainsaw rebuild and hope to learn and get a working saw out of it.
Is the cylinder toast? I can't feel any deposits on the wall and the rings seem fine.
Been trying to pinch the rings in one hand and slip the cylinder on with the other for a compression test. Any tricks?
