Hello,

I recently acquired a homelite generator (military) that is powered by what resembles a super xl chainsaw engine. This thing was built in 1966 comes with the original travel case, sealed tool, part & accessory kit and more. The old gentleman told me that he got it while in active duty and he has never heard it run. I am 99.5% sure it is brand new, as it is spotless and looks new. The model is a XLA115. I know this is not exactly a chainsaw but I was hoping that someone on here would know something about these and an approximate value of the unit.

Thanks in Advance

Well those ole girls show up from time to time. There were 3 new ones in Baraboo WI a few years back. I want to warn you to look at the spec tag. I believe you will find it says 400cyl. That is a problem as all other electricity here reverses 60 complete cycles per second.

I do see that it does say 400cyl on it. Can anyone tell me if this is a collectible item and how much its worth. Like I said, as far as i can tell it is brand new.

Thanks for the Help

We're going to need some pictures. You probably could find someone to convert it to 60hz for civilian use. 400hz is pretty much all aviation stuff. Even if it can be converted, it is doubtful that someone would use it much. With that said, I doubt you will find someone willing to give more than $200-$300 for it, and the value could quite possibly be less.
