A couple years ago my grandfather gave me an old Homelite EZ Automatic that had sat in his barn since he bought a newer Stihl. I haven't looked at it in a while but I'm pretty sure it's not the "super" model. Anyway, first, can anyone tell me about this saw? Engine size, etc.
Second, the saw looks almost new, it has high compression, and seems strong when it runs. The problem is, when running, sometimes it just starts to die, no reason. Every once in a while I can pull the choke out about half way and it will keep going but that's just once in a while. Mixture screws seem to do nothing.
Third, where can I get a manual and other parts if I might need them?

I just can't seem to find any info on these things, other than the occasional stray comment that they were supposed to be decent saws.

Thanks, Phillip

ANy decent saw shop will have access to the carb kit, it's a Walbro HDC carb, you need a k10-HDC kit. Fuel filters are fairly universal, I'm not sure if the S-EZ uses a special molded line or not.

I just called the Stihl dealer that I usually deal with, they have the kit in stock, $6.91, can't beat the ease of that.

Another question though, can someone direct me on the PROPER way to tune this carb? I can work with it until it's sounds okay but usually there is an easy way to beat my hard way.
Also, do y'all know if the stock bar is the max this saw will handle?

Thanks, phillip
