So it's hitting the low 90s out here and my ol' homelite is very unhappy. I believe the gas is boiling in the tank, creating a lot of pressure. I'm having a lot of trouble restarting it and I've got gas spewing past the cap. The duck bill in the gas cap is present and working. Does anyone have a solution to this issue?

Weather like this is pretty normal for my area, so I think its find a solution or another saw.

I was cutting with neighbors last year and they had a similar problem. In the few minutes we looked at the saw, we could find nothing wrong. They took it to the dealer (it was a new saw), and the dealer gave them a new chain. Oddly that fixed the problem. My only guess was the chains guide was the wrong size for the bar, and caused overheating. They never did give me the whole story and the final conclusion. Good Luck!

It will start back after releasing tank pressure (which involves a gnarly gasoline geyser). It takes a good few pulls to get it going. Maybe vapor lock?

When I blow the area clean, I spend some effort blowing the tank vent clean also. I never know if is a problem, but it is in the same area as the air filter so it surely does get dirty.

I thought the tank vent was in the cap on these?

I don't see anything like that in my air filter/carb area.

My Poulan 2000 does that too when cutting in hot weather . So it is a cool weather saw due to the location of the gas tank .

You want a hot weather saw for the warm months .

Sounds like I need a different year round saw. Haha. I moved here last fall from a cooler environment. The winter was nice, but boy summer is on and will be for a long time.

It is definitely vapor lock, overheated fuel causing air bubbles in the carb. The tank vent valve is doing it's job, it is only meant to let air into the tank, not reduce tank pressure by letting air out.

I've inquired about a Jonsered 630 for sale here on the form and that has become my plan for fixing this issue. Summer is long in my part of the world. Maybe this homie will be a backup as I'm not sure if it's worth selling.
