Hello all.

I have 2 925's & am rebuilding one.

It had a bad crank/rod/bearings

i found a good donor saw with a good lower end & am using my piston & jug.

My question: My original 925 with the bad lower end had the piston in it backwards, the ring end gaps were on the ex side (Someone had replaced the top end at one time)

The piston/jug & rings were like new.

I have a new set of rings, but was wondering if I should just re-use the old ones, as they look fine. However they would obviously be running 180 degrees from where they originally were.

any advice/comments appreciated

Mike

If new rings were hard to aquire, I'd re-use the originals. But you do have a new set in hand so they'd be the ones to use.

OK, just about got her back together.

I need to get a carb kit & a new rim & I will be in biz.

I used the new rings, gave it a spin & got 145 PSI out of it.

Dang thing needs a comp release, cant hardly turn it over without ripping the saw out of my hand.

I might see if i can fit one of those elasto start ropes in there.

Anyone have any exp. with those ??

Yep, I've used the elasto start handles before, nothing even compares to them.

The way they dampen the shock from the rope to pull start handle is just incredible, I'd put em on my Jonsered if I could find them in the right size on ebay.
