Will a 32:1 mix using Stihl or Husqvarna oil be O.K. to use in a later Textron Homelite XL-12 or should I use a 16:1 mix? Thanks in advance for any input.

I would use 32:1. 16:1 will kill too many mosquitos. The 16:1 was basically for when all you did was mix regular 30wt motor oil with the gas

I use castor oil for all my 2 stroke engines for the last 10 years have not had any trouble (even in my homelite xl12 bought new in 1967) mixing with all ratio

Run it 16:1 and add 10ml of pure acetone for every gallon of mix. NO smoke and more power.

My XL-12 is running stout and strong on 32:1, its 2 years older than me.
