I was given an XL2 for free recently (not running) and thought I would fix it up for a trim saw (beats my 039). I got it going and it seems to run great but wont idle. There are two screws showing on the carb. a larger one on top (when looking in from behind the saw) and a much smaller screw below. Does anyone know which is the idle screw and which way to turn to give me more idle?

Sounds like the same carb on my cousin's Super2. The larger screw is for idle speed and the other smaller screw is for the low speed mixture. Carb didn't have a high speed mixture screw, its preset and not adjustable. There's plenty of literature on how to adjust carbs, but be aware that other problems may be contributing to a poor idle. Air leaks and low compression to name a couple. If you just want to speed up the idle a bit and assuming all else is well, simply turn the bigger screw clockwise to increase speed.
