Got a 52-54mm hone from Bailey's (thats what it reads) and it could be shoved into the 52mm (460) cylinder, but it would take some force along with oil. Obviously will go good with a 54mm.
Anyone used this size in the 52mm? Will this hone go both ways?

Would post on Bailey's thread, but was looking for immediate answers.
Thanks.

Yes, the hone will work and go both ways. Before you use it, wear it a bit in an old cylinder or a water pipe. Use lot's of lube and enter with fast rotational speed (don't push it it then start the rotation).

hope this is helpful

If you have a drill press I would mount the hone in that and hold the cylinder in your hand to do the up and down strokes. A rule of thumb I go by or most of us probably do is the tighter the fit in the cylinder the more lube you need marvels mystery oil works good.:givebeer:

Trying to hold things that are under load from power equipment usually turns out bad. If the DP takes it out of his hands it will probably fling it into a low earth orbit. Best thing is to make a small fixture that will go inside a five gallon bucket. That way the cutting fluid is contained and you stay safe.

Thats a good point haven't had that problem personally and I doubt Treeslinger would from his strength but it probably would be better to mount it but I still would use the drill press.:rockn:

Check out Bailey's website on the flexhones. They have a nice little video showing how to use the hones properly.

Thanks guy's. The video I more or less copied in my method. Honed a cylinder today, with the cylinder in a vise, and lot's of flex hone oil. Worked extremely well, went a few revolutions forward and then back.

DNRNECK - nice to see you around Kyle.
