How good of a deal was this

I just got back from a Ritchie Brothers auction. I picked up a set of 12" steel skid steer tracks (case) that were around 70% for $200. They also had a Vermeer 1800 chipper. It was a repaint and had 1700 hours. The metal wasn't beat up. It started and idled fine. I never did see it fully running and everything working. It came from a Vermeer dealer so I assume that it worked ok at the very least. The chipper sold for $8500. I thought about buying it but my chip truck is just a 1-ton. I thought it might be a little heavy when fully loaded with chips. So how good of a deal was this?

The tracks were a steal. The chipper imo would have been a decent deal if it ran and worked well.
