How hard does you chipper throw the chips. I have a Gravely Pro Chip 495. It's a 12inch chipper with a 120hp perkins. This thing throws the chips hard. Almost to hard. When the truck starts to get full it make a big mess. The chips hit the pile in the truck and get blown back out. When I had a box on the dump trailer I had osb for the front sheet. It blew a hole in the osb in 10 minutes. I had to screw tin up there. and that was throwing the chips 15 feet before it hit the board If you take the guard off the top I know it will blow chips 90 plus feet. I was watching chippers on You Tube and didn't see any throwing them this hard. Is this the norm or is this just the way my chipper is.

Thanks Scott

My Morbark really slings the chips too, I just make sure we rake, blow and pickup the mess. Better than having it not take some of the big pieces I say.

My lil 12" drum 4 cyl will throw them 30-40', so 90' is believable. Is your chip box vented? If it isn't it will throw way more chips out than if it is. The vents let all that air pressue escape without carrying chips with it.

Ya it never clogs. The box does have a vent. I think I'm going to make the back pretty much a total enclosure. Everything does get cleaned up very nice. I place a tarp under the back of the truck. The tarp stretches from the duals to half wy under the chipper. This helps a lot.

We had to reinforce the front some of our smaller 30-40 yard chip trucks , our 1850 was killing killing them. We fill 48' trailers with no problem.
