First I'm new member, even though i've been looking for weeks. I have an 028 super AV woodboss which I've had for 15 years, still runs like new. With the cost of fuel oil so high, I bought a 440 Magnum, which I love so much that I keep it in the house with me :)
How important is HP on a grinder??? I really like the looks of the Foley 308 but it's 1/6 hp (.167 hp)and i see that the 511a is .38hp .. 2 and 1/2 times as much !!
Is the Foley designed so well that It works as well as the Oregon???
If you don't dull the chain too far, how much do you take off with a bench mounted grinder?? 5 or 10 thousandth's?? thanks so much for your time and help, it is greatly appreciated..

sorry, you posted in the wrong forum. thats ok though. welcome anyways.
HP is nice, on my 511A, I've never slowed it down, though with the passes I make on each cutter, I shouldnt slow it any. light passes that are just enough to take a little metal off, and not blue the metal are good. as far as how important hp is, I dont know for sure. if you are easy on the grinder its not bad at all.

You have to remove all the damaged section off the cutter to bring it back to a clean crisp edge, do so in small amounts to keep the cutter cool and not turn it blue from being in to big a hurry.

Start with the worst tooth and bring them all back to its length to keep the chain cutting nice and straight.

I am beginning to see that removing less metal is the way to go. thanks for your help. any one else ,feel free to jump in too :) I could use all the advice i can get :)
