I helped teach a Cincinnati State arboriculture class today. I was one of three different companies that participated in teaching. While attending as a student at Purdue University I acted as a teaching assistant and I guess the teaching bug stuck. How many of you guys teach groups other then individuals in you own company.

You will probably get the "those who can, do and those who can't, teach" line....

but in all seriousness, one of my partners has taught me more about tree work and care than anyone I have ever known. I have gained little from the seminars at the ISA and TCIA events.

What type of class did you teach....I may want to enroll

Before I was a full time tree guy I taught College classes at the local community college. I also ran an environmental center where I taught school kids. I don't do any formal teaching to groups now, but I teach my crew, homeowners and people I talk to everyday about proper tree care. You know how it goes..... "I wanna top my tree...." And then I teach them etc etc. Or a groundie does something dumb.... and then he gets taught..... haha.... Mike

depends on what you mean by he word "teach" .... I've taught quite a few in my 21 years, of course it was only for line clearance so it doesn't count.

Awesome Rf. Only appreciated by a dirty hack utility guy, like me.

We all teach those around us. Sometimes in a formal setting or sometimes by example. I taught auto for 32 years at the Voc/JC level. Now I occasionally teach BBQ classes.

Part of my service is to teach crews new methods. I regularly take breaks and go over knots, or discuss defect observation my clients employees.

Then there is the education of the public...

Hey...we teach each other here too.:blob2:

I taught Landscape Architecture at ISU for two years. Loved the teaching but hated the politics and competition among faculty.

Got to teach the local city forestry department guys some rigging techniques last friday. That was fun.

I teach when I'm not climbing...so some of us who can do, teach too!:cheers:

I teach registered courses in maintenance and operation and felling to the UK national standard (CS30 & 31) and am a Lantra Awards approved instructor.
I also do bespoke training (tailored courses for groups or indiviuals) for pruning, chainsaw use for occasional users, site organization and risk assessment.

I have a gig with the local Regiment in May, post hurricane damage mitigation.
:chainsaw::chainsaw:

I hear you arbor pro! I spent four years at our local college, politics was awful!!
