I thought this would be an enlightening thread for those of us who climb. How much does your saddle weigh? No chain saw, no spikes, no helmet. Everything else is fair game.

I use a butterfly - 3lbs!!;)

A few crabs, can't weigh too much. A bigger factor is how much rope you are pulling through a tree.

I know that the saddles themselves are not too bad. I am talking about once you have them loaded up with gear. Excluding chain saws because they can vary in weight SEVERELY, helmets, because they don't weigh too much and are on your head, and spikes because they are not on you each time you climb.

Come on guys... lanyards, hand saws, slings, etc? I know most of us have scales in the house.

Well, my $88 Karl Kuemmerling saddle (similar to a Weaver) weighs in at 4 lbs according to the website. And no, I do not own a scale.

I don't have a scale either. I'd guess about 5 or 6 lbs for a typical climb. Although some days it feels like 20 or 30.

For kicks I loaded up my saddle with everything I would want to have, to spend a day in a grove of trees. It weighed in at 18 pounds!

Saddle-versitile
Lanyard-10', two aluminum snaps, small cam and biner.
Lockjack sport-with micropully.
1 steal biner, 1 aluminum biner.-(for lifeline)
Hand saw-(allways leave the tree better than you found it).
Footlock prussik
Cambium saver
Retrevable redirect
Cube-with 8ounce bag and grapple
assender-with strap and aluminum biner

As soon as it stops raining when I'm not working, I'm going to see what it's like lugging all that junk around. Not everything will be on the belt at the same time.:Monkey

Most people do own bathroom scales so use a bathroom scale as a weighing scale.

Try this: weigh yourselves on a scale when wearing no equipment. Put on your equipment, then weigh yourselves again. Subtract your weight before wearing equipment from the weight when wearing equipment. This should give the weight of the equipment.
