I got the 288xp (lite) cleaned and running. However where the trigger lock (missing) is located, the right half is broken. It is clean perpendicular break. How would you fix it?

The other half is solid and holding well but don't want to stress that much right now until the damaged side is fixed.

On missing trigger lock, it seems like it is not that important...or am I mistaken?

Anyone here have spare parts as listed below they would willing to sell, please send me a PM. I am hoping to get these from one person to save on shipping if possible ;).

501 81 75-02 (trigger lock)
503 78 63-01 (trigger lock spring)
503 48 45-01 (plastic plate on right hand side/bar side of trigger lock handle)
503 57 22-01 or 503 70 40-01? (brake band)
721 42 52-50 (brake band pin)
724 13 29-55 (starter cover screw)
501 68 68-01 (chain catcher)
501 59 80-02 (3/8" x 7 rim sprocket) - Can I use Stihl rim sprocket in lieu of this?

Thank you,

Dario :)

I didnt get to see thew picture, but one way is to drill small holes and "sew" with stainless wire, and then epoxy overe that works if you dont have thghe cash to put a new one on. Though it will flex and not be totally fixed. It could get you by.

Thanks!

1. Will 2 or 3 pair of holes be enough?
2. Any preferred type/brand of glue/epoxy?
3. How should I prep the surface to insure adhesion...just plain sanding?

I am also planning on gluing a "plate" in the recessed part and wrapping the handle, but that will mean not installing a trigger lock anymore. I can also "sandwitch" a piece of metal/wood/plastic inside to asct as a "splint/reinforcement", any thoughts on that?

Don't know how, no plan and can't afford to replace that whole thing so repair will be it. :)

BTW, on the parts, I sent a message to Randy Duncan (on eBay) but haven't heard back from him yet. Anyone dealt with him before?

Huh? I added the link again but your quote showed the pic also.

ALL I get is a little box with a red x in it.

I can't load a picture.

Lobo,

I'll try again...this is my first picture post here and I might be doing it wrong.

I am seeing the pic in my machines though...both home and work PC.

Please check it now.

It is coming through perfectly now.

Follow as suggested with small holes, then why not use JB Weld and reinforcing mesh full length on the flat area between the original ridges of the handle.

You can buy a two part epoxy at mobile home repair stores. It is used to repair plastic bathtubs. When it hardens it is as strong as the plastic and it still flexes. I've used it on the handle on my 026 and it worked great.

Thanks!

Sounds good but I already have some JB weld, so I'll use that.

Dario :)
