Just picked a few. They are just beginning. I'll check another spot tomorrow. I also saw the evil people with California license plates out scouting. The Used Dog and I hiked in to today's spot. The bad people do not do hiking, but go for all the patches along roads.

all the good places i like to pic are closed due to what they call exstreme fire danger. don't even know how there doing yet.

We had good drippy fog this morning. I had on my rigging pants and they got dampish in the brush. However, they dried out quickly on the hike out. Saw 4 bowhunters. They are hard to see until they move.

Port Blakely has all their land posted. I was on public land.

Huckleberries are WAY late over here by the coast.....hasn't been worth spending any time hunting bears up high with no berries and lotsa snow still. Glad to hear you got some.

Got more today. Nothing spectacular. Two years ago, this patch was fantastic. I came out with my bucket heaped high with big berries. Nothing like that today. I have a few more to check.

I just finished cleaning the berries and will can them tonight.

Note to self: When picking in today's patch, do not take Used Dog to stinky pond to cool him off. Just to get to the pond requires fighting some pretty thick and high brush. The walk out is harder. The brush grows leaning downhill. :(

Almost. Got into some large diameter berries today. The bucket put on weight fast. My hands have "the stain" and berry pickin' is good!!

There were others in OUR patch. So I used my bastardized Spanglish because the others were from Asia.
I was yelling at my friends, Venga aqui. Es berritos muy grandes. Unfortunately for him, the guy who was along said he didn't come up the hill because I did not add cerveza to my litany.

The Used Dog ate so many berries that he puked. But he didn't waste them, he did what dogs do.
He also ran down to help the other pickers. They did not appreciate his help. Oh well.
