Any updates from any body who is down there with Katrina working. Just wondering how crazy it is, or is it organized situation.

Just got back

just got back at about 3 am, 24 hour drive, been down with Katrina and Rita for about 6 weeks. Emergency tree work is done, clean-up underway. Lots to do but hard to get a contract. If I had the time and ability I would take a self propelled stump grinder down and make a lot of money. Seen very few running around, every yard needs it and in that area of the country every yard is fenced in and it is hard to work in the back yards without something narrow. Hope this helps, need to hit the hay.

We worked in several areas, first in Mississippi. Then we went to Rita, Lake Charles, LA. Lot less companies came down to help and this is a town with lots of tree stumps. If you go there, get on I-210 get off on Lake or Nelson, and go south both exit areas hit hard. Plus there is money there. Good Luck, Call me if you wish 563-927-4243 or 563-213-1215

hello all been home a week, leaving sunday morning heading back down. been working new Orleans for the last month. planning on being there awhile. things are getting way better as far as organization is concerned. most contractors and officials are getting things figured out. still lots of work to do. you will need an insider to get things rolling for you that city is big. street signs down even having a map its hard to get around, been there a month and still get lost at least once a day. traffic is really bad in the morning and evenings on i10 it takes almost 2hours to go from N.O. too batten rouge thats 45 miles away. its crazzy! but having a good time met alot of nice people. also met some crazy people (mostly neighbors) :blob5: any way have learned alot from people I've worked for and with while down there that alone was worth the trip so far.

if there are any experience climbers looking for work from 2 weeks to a few months call me, i need 1 more for sure could use 2 depending on your scheduling have campers so lodging is available just bring your climbing gear. prefer some people with a drivers license but not a must. cell 319-795-1452
have a good rest of the weekend D.J.

Hi D.J.,
I spoke with you before you came down, we never hooked up.
I'm pretty sure we have both been busy.
Couple of family members not well, I plan on going back home soon after I get to Milton,Fl. to pick up a dump truck (haven't seen it for a couple months now), but I'm leaving a crew down here in southern MS. set up with climbing gear, a place to live and equipment.
Watchout for a big guy from Indiana name Marc, I took on a sub job from him and got stiffed for a couple of crew days pay, others got burned worse.
Give me a call when you get a chance, maybe we can hook up this time.
Peace

What a suckwad. Marc clearly doesn't understand the concept of Karma. Or he doesn't give a crap that he's selling his soul.

I'm so very sorry that happened Boo. You have been an intensely dedicated individual leading a team through all the hardship and challenges of working in Katrinastan. You so didn't deserve that.

Mr. Marc will get his, maybe sooner, maybe later. That kinda $hit catches up to you. I am steamin mad.

hey boo ya my cell service in southern ms was horrible. are you going back after a while? would like to meet up with you some evening. i have heard of alot of that down there. i picked up a few workers that had worked for 2 weeks and didnt get any pay. these guys were working 12 hrs a day living in the guys truck at night and had nothing to show for it. these stories are all over the place down there. there are lots of jerks taking advantage of everyone. anyway boo i dont have your number any more my cell that had it stored in it took a fall out of the bucket 60 ft up you know the rest of the story. well i'm heading back down tomorrow with another camper fresh guys ready to do it all again. bringing the laptop down hopefully i can get a Internet connection down there. so my cell is 319-795-1452 or email at da1walsh @ hotmail.com (no spaces) still need one more climber i think i have one guy coming down from up north. so think about it if its slow for any of you climbers give me a call the airport is close by.

slim pickings

I just got back Wednesday from Mississippi. Spent most of my time in Ocean Springs and Waveland. Lots of people needing tree work, not so many with any money. I went as a volentier with my church. I asked every person I could about tree work and hauling debris. Everyone said it was some work but only worth it because of the service you are giving to those in need. I would like to go and make money like many of you, but I've seen too many people not getting paid after the work has been done. I've spent a total of 3 trips at 5 days each. I will be going back again in 3 weeks for more volinteer work. Anyone wanting to contact me can call at 843-816-1323.

Hi Folks,
My guys made it back down to MS. a couple of days ago.
I'm still waiting to hear from D.J. as he wanted to put my guys to work.
If there are any of you needing a 3 man crew w/climber and equipment until I hear from D.J. send me a PM note.
As far as money goes.... I get atleast 95% of the jobs I bid, we are good at what we do ....no need to inflate prices to do O.K.
I would have went back with them, but I've been away from home for the biggest part since hurricane Dennis, also my mother has cancer and my 2 year old baby girl needs physical therapy with her new leg brace.
Hopefully my guys down south stay busy, and hook up with good people.
Work safe.
Peace,
boo
