Hi all, so karma has payed me again. I helped a dude move he had this sexy husky2100 cd with a 42 in bar he said gimme 25 bucks and its yours been sittin here for 8 years though. so out flys 25 bones and of to my stihl lovin buddies house to gloat.....now this saw has been sitting for 8 years fill er up, pull the cord and....fuel pukes all over me found the culprit toasted fuel line filled the carb with gas and first pull she fired right up wooo hooo now where is the best place to find parts either online or in western wa and does anyone know if the legendary sultan saw shop is still in buisness

thanks joe

Sultan Saw Shop is sold...the owner died last fall.

I'll know soon if I have all the parts I need for the 4 2100's that I and two friends own....lakeside53 can get you contact info for Bryce, who goes by cheapstihlparts on ebay...or you can pm me for his phone number. He does have some 2100 parts....which are getting hard to find...plus there's some sources as well.....

thanks for the info.. i am doing all the research i can i know stihls best from working with them but since getting out of wood cutting and selling everything i own i am down to 2 mac 1-51s and now my 2100 it looks like the fuel line was spliced with some subgrade wanna be fuel line. i havnt been able to tear it apart yet but it looks like the fuel line should be a hard line with soft line on one end i am pretty confident she will run once the line is replaced. so let me know what you come up with as far as parts go, i am kinda like fred sanford i will collect everything i can get my hands on..

Baileys can get you a new fuel line for about $13, plus shipping (high if that's all you are buying!)..

And RB.. I have all the parts we need...

right on guys thanks for all the help, just got her apart fuel line is completley toasted but i guess for being 20 years old it held up pretty well. like i said before any parts you dont need send em my way everything is cracked and the av bushings are toasted as well. also need to hunt up a new chain it has a skip chisel on it right now. a little background on the saw it belonged to a faller from mt. vernon or so no baffles in muffler, full wrap and 42in bar 3 of em and no anti kickback cant wait to get her going then on to the two 1-51s i have collecting dust.

2100 was the first saw my partner and I bought new (like yow, '75 or around there) for bucking shake blocks, a freakin' awesome screamining saw it was, well worth getting up and running again in-my-honest-opinion (imho). Have run into few saws that'll work so hard. Never did get to kill it though but that is another story for another day :D

Welcome! And hope da gents can help ya out!

Small edit> For sure much of the old rubber lines break down after 10+ years, really important to make sure you get all those (tiny) chunks of carp outta there before you you start to run it again as they can turn to mud and plug up yer new project.... Just a thought. :)

I'm in the process of resurrecting a 2100 myself (2101XP actually). It's an old fallers saw (full wrap handle) that I think spent its life on Vancouver Island.

Starter's all functional now and the saw's in the shop for a rebuild on the clutch (springs/bearings/sprocket) and a new 3/8" tip to convert the 37" bar from .404 to 3/8. then the milling chain goes on, the Alaskan is strapped to it and a way we go!

recently purchased myself a 2100 as well. all the important bits seem sound and well maintained, just need to get a bar/chain, sprocket, brakeband, and fuel and oil filters and we're set.

good luck to all, pictures when theyre all running i hope...

I have a great looking, great running 2100 that suddenly wouldn't start, only backfire and jerk the pullrope out of my hand. At the suggestion of AS members, I'm trying to pull the flywheel off to see if the key is sheared, and out of time. How in the world do you the flywheel off. There is no room for a puller or to pry. Any help would be great, this is my stump saw and I need it. thanks

There are three 5mm holes about 20mm away from the center of the flywheel. The puller is locked down onto these (use 16mm screws assuming your puller is 5mm thick) and the threaded center is then wound in to push on the center of the crank and pull off the flywheel.

Don't pry or bash... and don't use an automotive "3-jaw" on the outer rim of the flywheel.

I just went thought the "pull the flywheel off the 2100" routine. Actually, it is a 298, essentially, the same saw as a 2100. Just a word of warning, these saws are old and those flywheels can really be on there. I actually broke the heads off my flywheel puller screws...made a dent in the ceiling! I replaced the screws with hardened ones, tried it again. This time, the threads pulled clean out of the flywheel. After pondering my misfortune for a day or so, I tapped out the flywheel holes to the next larger size, bought the appropriate size screws, dogged the whole set up down and tightenened and heated alternately with a propane torch.....POW! all is well.

The message, be prepared to get a little creative and to go a little slower on the old saws. They have little surprises to share.

Hey, any of you 2100 guys have an extra ignition to part with? PM me? Thanks!

wow a loyal little following we have here i am just waiting on baileys and the usps i have her torn down as far as i am willing to go right now and cant wait to put it back together and go see what she can do......i have big expectations anyway:rock: :smoking:

Nothing not to like (ok, maybe weight) about a 2100! The thing is a horse. There are "faster" saws these days for felling and bucking, but its hard not be impressed with the power. Great sound, too.

i had one and sold it.

wish i hadn't.it was a horse for sure.unreal torque.parts availabilty sppoked me so i sold it on ebay to a guy in virginia.

im not to worried about parts, nothing stays stock long with me gona try my had at builiding a stinger for it a burly saw is useless to me if it cant outcut my buddies:greenchainsaw:

Like how many ccs is this saw and what is a good used one worth
