I am looking for a husqvarna 288 cylinder to rebuild a 181SE I have. Also will need meteor piston or oem in new condition.

What will be the difference between the OEM and Meteor kit long term, or any other differences you think might be important?

Also with the OEM what is the difference between Mahle and Gilordoni or something like that?

OEM on a 288 would be Mahl or Kolbenschmidt. Both are excellent. The KS jugs are all non-decomp. Some Mahl cylinders are machined for the decomp, while others have the boss cast in............but it's not machined. I've built 288's with both Mahl and KS cylinders.

I have someone trying to sell me what they call a Husqvarna OEM Gilardoni 288 piston and cylinder kit, is this correct, Eccentric says OEM on a 288 would be Mahle or Kolbenschmidt and no mention of Gilardoni?

So if the magic is in the OEM cylinder, which one do I go with? Thanks

It is possible that Gilardoni is now making a copy of the OEM Mahl or KS cylinders. That'd be great, as Gilardoni's quality is right with them.
