the 288 was discontinued a few years ago. 88cc. they are a well built saw, aftermarket parts are starting to become available/popular. good torque. evolved from and interchangable with the 181/281 saws of the early 80's. good torque, not the fastest by any means but solid.
The 288 was introduced in about 1987, and is 87 cc, rated at 6.1 hp.
They were discontiued about 2003 here, but I would not be surpriced if they still are current in parts of the world ("3. world"), as some other older models are.
