I need a new saw fast. I am doing big removals with beat up 192 that runs poorly and I am not feeling super safe about it. I had a 201 for about six months and it did well but my socks were not knocked off. I am looking at the 338xp and I just became aware of the Jonsered 2139T. What can you guys tell me about these new options. PS I read somewhere that the 338xp only runs green chains which sounds stupid, but if that is true it would be an issue.

try the echo 355T I have one and like it. I do a lot of removals with it. It was cheap compared to the stihl and you can order it direct from the echo website and have it sent to your door.

No such thing as a saw that only runs green chains. It is probably a 3/8 picco .050 or whatever and you can get any type of chain that size and put it on the saw.

When it comes down to it with saw brands, I would go with the one you will get the best dealer support with.

First of all the 338 and 2139 are pretty much the same saw.
Not a bad saw but a pain to work on, and you need 2 to get anything done. I loved my 2139 until it started getting finicky.
I don't think they make the 338 anymore.
Lots of info on here about improving the performance of the 201t.
I personally have never liked any product made by echo and I have ran a number of them.

I have a 2139t. Same saw as the 338 Husky just in red plastic and was $100 cheaper than the Husky.
Not as strong as a 200T but still a strong runner.
