:help:what can this saw be used for (woodcutting road and trail clearing). How do i talk my mom into getting this saw for me:help:

what kind of trees do you want to cut? I use mine a lot as it is a light saw, but it is not made for the big stuff.

I just want firewood for deer camp

Then it would be a fine saw. Just stay away from anything too big and the saw will last longer, and you will have to split less. I run a 16" bar on mine, and it is happy with it. It does OK with a 18" also. Not the fastest saw in the world, but I have cut a lot of wood with it, and it has never failed me.

OK, how old are you? how much have you run a saw?

My nephew was 15 when he got his first saw, he sold it as he and his buddies liked campfires, and he could help the neighbors clean up their yards, as well as his buddies parents places?

Either use you're dads a while, or get a 14" polaun. Get something cheap, you will mucker it up at first until you get used to it, Buy cheap and small, then get a bigger saw when you are more experienced.

You probably shouldn't be in the woods alone with a saw. It takes years of experience to really know how to run a chainsaw, and appreciate how fast you can die if you use it wrong. Until you have a little time cutting with somebody who is experienced, you should not worry about buying a saw.

I was using mine as my main firewood saw until I got the 5100 S, which is a lot zippier and not much heavier. The 350 is a perfectly good saw, though, and probably more than you need for what you're describing. I have an 18" bar on mine, and I can cut down trees big enough to make me tired by the time I've got them in the truck. If you just want something to cut small wood (<10"), you could use a really small saw like a Shindaiwa 377. Just tell your mom that saws are cool, and can even be used as a source of income, as well as fun. Wood rocks!
