I just got a new 372XP that I am breaking in. I wanted to set it up to run 12500 rpm max for the first few tanks. However, there is a limiter insert on the high speed screw that will not allow me to lean it out below 13600. Is there a trick to defeating these limiters? I can't tell by looking at it. I just need about another 1/8 turn out and it would probably be fine. I did a search here but couldn't find anything.

Thanks

Turning it richer is what decreases your rpm. If you want to richen it farther than the hS will allow tweak the LS a bit. Although I dont really see a need for it. I would tune the carb properly and break it in that way.

Yes, but..

If I mod the muffler, I will probably need to supply more fuel than the low speed screw will contribute and still allow it to idle well. Are you saying that these limiters can't be removed?

Thanks

You said you wanted to lower the rpm for break in. As far as muffler mods go I wouldnt assume it will lean out your adjustments. I would do the muffler mods first and worry about the screws after. The limiters can be removed.

Slowtorque, with a minimal amount of disassembly you can access the limiters so that you can grind the protrusion off of the hi speed screw. Removing the limiters is possible but then it is a real PITA to get a screwdriver on them to tweak `em and next time your saw goes to the shop they will be replaced at your expense anyway. The limiters as you can see are plastic so it is fairly easy to remove the ear. I wouldn`t recommend running your saw at anything more than a few hundred rpm below the factory spec of 13,500. Russ
